At least 238 people are feared dead, and over 900 individuals have sustained injuries in the train accident that took place in Balasore district, Odisha. The incident involved two express trains, namely the Yashwantpur-Howrah Express and the Shalimar-Chennai Coromandel Express, along with a goods train. The crash occurred near the Bahanaga Baazar station around 7 p.m., making it the fourth deadliest train accident in India's history.

The authorities deployed 200 ambulances, 50 buses, and 45 mobile health units to the accident site. Additionally, 1,200 personnel, including doctors from SCB and forensic medicine specialists, were mobilized.
